Three Months Old

Avery turned three months old today. Time is really flying! I measured her today and she has grown an inch in the last month. Her legs have filled out and are much stronger. She loves to push off things with her feet and legs. Also her hands are bigger and she is grasping things more and more.

I don't know what it is about the tv. She can't get enough of it! Even if she is faced the opposite way of the tv she cranks her neck all the way around just to look at it. She also stops crying when she spots the tv. It's like she's in a trance so I end up turning it off so it doesn't distract her.

Some of my family came to our house on Sunday for a BBQ. My Uncle Brian, Aunt Connie, and cousin Kristen were visiting from California and got to meet Avery. We had fun (except poor Jared who was out grilling in the fierce heat). Unfortunately I didn't get any pics with my camera, but here are a few from the last week.

Ladies Night at the K

On Thursday, Avery attended her first Kansas City Royals game. She and I went with my friends Kate and Beth and also one of Beth's friends. It was Ladies Night so all the ladies received pink Royals hats. Avery also received a certificate commemorating her first Royals game.

This was my first trip to Kauffman Stadium this year and the first time I saw the new giant scoreboard. Very impressive! Even more impressive was that the Royals beat the Tampa Bay Rays.

Avery was really really good during the game. She loves being outside. I was a little worried about the heat but it didn't bother her. She was so cute in her pink Royals onesie and Royals socks from Grandma JoAnn. I can't count the number of people who commented on how cute she looked.

Avery has started laughing quite a bit. It is adorable and usually a result of someone looking at and talking to her. Or she laughs when we laugh. She also thinks it's funny when her daddy makes her dance like the gopher in Caddyshack while singing "I'm alright."

She is getting much stronger and is holding her head up much more. She also likes to stand while you hold her up, but just for a few seconds.

Since she's turning 3 months old on Tuesday, we took her to get her pictures taken today. It was the first time we had them done professionally. Avery did great! They will be posted online in 10 days so I will post the link when it's ready.

Here is a recent picture of Avery and Cousin Cooper. Cooper is one month younger - and 3 pounds bigger now!

And can't forget Cousin Evan. We still struggle to get a good picture of the two of them because Evan is just a little too energetic for her. But you can see how much he loves seeing her.

First Day of Daycare

That dreaded day has arrived. I returned to work today and Avery went to daycare. But actually everything went pretty well. I took Avery to Jennifer's this morning and 30 minutes later tore myself away to go to work. After receiving a standing ovation I sat at my desk and realized...that I left my computer at home! Whoops. Meanwhile, Avery did pretty well at daycare and even took an hour nap by herself which I can rarely get her to do. We are starting out just with half days so the time went by pretty fast. Avery and I actually went back to the office this afternoon as I continued reading the many, many emails that have piled up. Even though she was only at Jennifer's a half day she was really tired afterward and slept through much of the afternoon and evening.

Some pictures of the first two days of daycare:

In other Avery news (that is probably not that interesting for many of you), I had to buy her new socks because her feet were too big for all those little newborn socks. Actually her feet were always too big for most of them. Too bad because they were so cute. Great-Grandpa Harley thinks those big feet and fat big toe will make her a good athlete. I did the first sweep of clothes that were too small and now have a bag in her closet for that. It's a little depressing when they don't fit her anymore.

In her continued efforts to be like her father, Avery has a new hobby - watching television. Of course, I don't encourage this, but anytime she is facing the tv she just stares at it. Once she seemed to get upset when I turned it off. She is also still enjoying mirrors and has several toys that she loves. She even touches them now but cannot grasp quite yet.

We had a nice 4th of July with our families. Avery spent a lot of time with both grandmas and her cousin Evan. We even watched a few fireworks from the front yard at Grandma JoAnn's. Avery modeled her new bib and her adorable bikini. Isn't that about the cutest thing you've ever seen? I also added one picture to the Baptism post of her alone in her dress.
